Where do you drain condensate water if there’s only one drain, but you need more?

Smart Condensate Drainage: Solutions for Single-Drain Homes

The Challenge: In recent years, many households have adopted new appliances that enhance our quality of life, such as air conditioners, condensing boilers, water softeners, and dehumidifiers. A common requirement for all these helpful devices is the need to drain the condensate they produce during operation.

This often presents a problem, particularly in homes built or renovated more than a decade ago. During the initial plumbing installation, wall drain points (with the possible exception of a washing machine drain) were typically not pre-installed for these newer appliances.

So, how can you effectively drain the condensate from these products without breaking walls or redoing your entire plumbing system? This challenge is further complicated by the varying diameters of flexible drain hoses and the common 22mm and 24mm hose connections found on washing machine and/or dishwasher drains.

The Solution: Hermes
This is where the innovative Hermes connection becomes incredibly useful and offers a definitive solution. Hermes is a siphon available with or without a threaded connection for the sink strainer, featuring three different hose connectors: one with a 24/22mm diameter, another with a 20/17/15mm diameter, and a smaller one with a 12/8mm diameter. You can use one, two, or all three to drain various condensate outputs directly into a single drain. Any unused outlets can be easily sealed with the included practical caps.

Hermes Siphon Versions:

1. Wall-Mounted Version (Non-Sink Area) The first version (as shown in the image above) is designed for installation in a wall drain not located in a sink area. The upper part includes a ventilation valve that typically remains open, drawing in air from outside. It closes automatically when water is present.

2. Sink/Basin Siphon Version The second version (pictured alongside) is designed to also function as a sink or basin siphon. It comes equipped with the three hose connectors and a swivel nut with two threads: 1 1/4″ for basins and 1 1/2″ for kitchen sinks.

Standalone Straight Element: Additionally, a standalone straight element (cover image) is available. This can be added to previously purchased siphons in either of the two threaded swivel nut variants (1 1/4″ or 1 1/2″).
