Sanitaryware with female names: Simply “special” collections. Sintesibagno finds the perfect toilet seat (Part 1).

We have previously explored how sanitaryware series are often given imaginative names (like YOU&ME by Hatria), geometric names (ELLISSE by Ideal Standard), conceptual names (TESI or SINTESI), and even geographical ones (PIEMONTE by Pozzi Ginori). Today, we’ll see how this naming convention extends to female names.

While we can’t know the exact reason a designer chooses a specific name, we like to imagine it stems from a thought of someone close to them. What is certain is that most of these collections are as unique and distinctive as the women they are named after.

LINDA Series (Ideal Standard)

Perhaps the most legendary of them all: Linda. Designed in 1977 by the genius Achille Castiglioni, this series is a masterclass in primary forms. Its silhouette features an oval section contained within a sphere, resting on a parallelepiped with incredible formal harmony. Throughout the ’80s, Linda dominated the bathroom market alongside icons like Conca and Tesi.

  • Note on Color: If you have this fixture, it is likely in “Ideal Standard White” (which differs slightly from standard European White). We also stock replacements in Champagne, Mink, Blueberry, Blue, Pink, and Grey.

LISA Series (Hatria)

A major success for Hatria in the 1980s. Lisa features a rectangular shape that was highly popular at the time, influenced by giants like Square and Italica. Hatria customized this look by adding a slight lift on the upper rim of the bowl, making it instantly recognizable. It was widely sold in White and Champagne. OLIVIA Series (Ceramica Globo)

Fast forward to the 2000s with Olivia by Ceramica Globo. This series left a stylistic mark with its beautiful oval upper rim resting on a forward-leaning, perfectly proportioned body. Fun fact: its slender silhouette is a nod to Popeye’s wife, hence the name! This model strictly requires its specific original toilet seat and you can find Olivia in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

ARIANNA Series (Ceramica Globo)

While perhaps more traditional in style, Arianna became a massive bestseller due to its accessible price point. Unlike its competitors (like Ellisse or Iril) which usually measure 34-35 cm in width, Arianna features a wider 36 cm oval, giving it unique proportions.
