Today we are exploring ceramic series characterized by a very specific aesthetic feature: vessels with a rear raised step. While primarily a stylistic choice, this design serves as a functional hygienic barrier. It prevents “unwanted” elements from falling behind the toilet or, in the case of back-to-wall models, from ending up on the wall itself, making cleaning much easier.
VAVID Ceramics – Mediterranea and Orientale Series
The success of this formal trait belongs to VAVID. With the Mediterranea series, the company paved the way for a new design language. Its rectangular shape is enhanced by this rear riser, designed in the 70s and 80s to help keep the bathroom floor pristine.
Orientale represented the “luxury” version: larger, imposing, and featuring the same ingenious rear step. Both were produced in White, Champagne, and Grey. All toilet seats can be found in the store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

Cesame – SYMBOL Series
The Sicilian mastery of CESAME is best displayed in the Symbol series. Here, the rear step is embellished with almost “embroided” ceramic details. It is a large fixture (the seat measures 47.5/48 cm) and was produced in White, Champagne, Mink (Daino), and Pink.

Catalano – ZERO 54 and ZERO+ Series
In the early 2000s, Catalano redefined modern design with the Zero Program.
Zero+: A “Lux” series with imposing dimensions (40 cm width), perfect for large bathrooms. They have been out of production for a few years now, but their original toilet seats are available in the store at the following Sintesibagno link [ Clik HERE ]. Zero 54: The true bestseller. Whether floor-standing or wall-hung, the defining element is the rear step. This Zero version has been out of production for some time, however, the version in wrap-around thermoset is available in the store at the following Sintesibagno link [ Clik HERE ] and a dedicated version in polyester-coated wood at the following Sintesibagno link [ Clik HERE ]
AXA – ONE Series
Axa One is a masterpiece of modern ceramics. By adding a small rear riser inspired by ceramic history, Axa created a rimless, streamlined toilet that is both beautiful and practical. When the seat is installed, it aligns perfectly with the step, creating a refined continuous surface.

Pozzi Ginori – TOWER Series
The Tower series represents the grand finale of Pozzi Ginori before its integration into Geberit. It features a rectangular shape with a rear step, but with a twist: the toilet seat itself is molded to follow the step, accentuating the formal rigor of the design.
