Sanitary ware and their uniquely shaped toilet seats. (Part 1)

We have previously explored how bathroom design history is filled with diverse sanitaryware shapes. From the classic OVAL (like Ponti Z, Fantasia, or Erika) and the D-SHAPE (the iconic Linda by Ideal Standard) to LARGE OVALS (Join, Sculture) and perfect CIRCLES (Starck 1, You&Me). We even analyzed RECTANGULAR designs like Conca and Frozen.

While most toilets follow recognizable geometric patterns, some defy tradition. Today, we look at extraordinary models that surprise us with their “strange” and unique forms.

Ideal Standard – DIAGONAL Series

An incredible design from Ideal Standard’s luxury range. The Diagonal is one of the few models featuring a single-hinge system. It is a large-scale toilet characterized by a raised rear section that leans toward the user, where the specific proprietary hinge is fixed.

  • Find it here: In the Sintebagno.shop store we have created a section dedicated to the Diagonal toilet seat where you will find not only the complete toilet seat, but also the single hinge and also its original bumpers. All at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

Ceramica Galassia – SA02 Series

The SA02 collection by Galassia embodies pure lifestyle and has won prestigious awards like DESIGN PLUS+ and a Compasso d’Oro selection. While it feels rectangular at first glance, three of its sides are actually composed of semi-circles. It’s available in wall-hung and unique floor-standing versions.

  • Find it here: The toilet seat cover, clearly original, is a unique piece and is the same for the three variants. You can find it in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]

Pozzi Ginori – T-UNO (T1) Series

Pozzi Ginori has always been a pioneer in square shapes (think Italica or Square – Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware old square models. Square, Italica and Italo duo which toilet seat cover is correct?), but the T-UNO is truly one-of-a-kind. Launched in the ’70s, it features a recessed central upper plane, creating two distinct “steps”—one at the front and one at the back. Because of this unique profile, universal seats simply won’t fit; it requires a specific seat with a front notch.

  • Find it here: On the front towards the user it must have a notch (step)n that allows it to conform to its unique shape. Here you need the original T1 toilet seat, because adaptable models just don’t fit, you can find it in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]
