Sometimes, ceramic manufacturers choose to print the designer’s name on the fixtures instead of the company brand (Catalano, Astra, Duravit…). This can make finding a replacement toilet seat difficult years later.
If you are unsure of your model, we recommend using our professional guide: IDENTIFICATION OF TOILET SEAT by Sintesibagno. Let’s look at some iconic series designed by the masters of architecture.
Balestra for Catalano (Esedra & Tissi): The Esedra series (80s) features a unique slim rim along the top. The Tissi series moves toward softer, circular shapes but features an unusual hinge spacing of 21 cm. [ Clik HERE ]
F. Valeri for Astra: Ahead of its time, this “Big” series introduced large D-shaped dimensions that later became a market standard. Despite its length, it maintains a sleek profile. [ Clik HERE ]
Philippe Starck for Duravit: A partnership dating back to 1994. The STARCK 1 revolutionized the industry with its perfect circular shape (42 cm wide). It was followed by the equally successful STARCK 2 and STARCK 3.
Matteo Thun for Catalano (Roma & Muse): Roma [ Clik HERE ] (2005) offers a classic, “Imperial” look with a spherical top and stepped base. Muse (2007) is a ceramic masterpiece; its fluid lines evoke the softness of a breeze-blown sheet. The original Muse toilet seat cover is still available in the Sintesibagno store [ Clik HERE ] and a new extra-slim PLUS version with slow-motion hinges [ Clik HERE ].
