One of the companies from the Ceramic District of Civita Castellana. From their website (www.hidra.it), we learn that: “Hidra Ceramica started production in 1989 and is today one of Italy’s leading companies in the manufacturing of sanitary ware and bathroom furnishings. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, ongoing research efforts, and continuous investment in human resources, Hidra has achieved outstanding quality standards, always aligning products with the latest market trends. Hidra collections stand out for their quality and design focus, developed in collaboration with renowned designers. To maximize customer satisfaction, the company’s quality and design philosophy now includes a new service: the option to set up coordinated display corners in retail stores for its products. Hidra products are distributed nationwide and in 60 countries worldwide.”
In this post: “Hidra Ceramiche. The shapes of sanitary ware in the new millennium and their covers.” We’ve already showcased several series and their matching toilet seats: SMARTY series, LOFT series, DIAL series, ANGELA series.
TOP LINE series One of the company’s earliest series, with a classic 1990s shape. Notable raised rear rim for better hygiene. The top support has a slight step, but the remaining surface width meant no need for shaped bumpers on the seat (unlike many contemporaries—see post: ”Sanitary wares with an inclined plane and their toilet covers with shaped bumpers (part 1)” ). Find the TOP Line toilet seat in the Sintesibagno store here [ Clik HERE ]
PLUVIA series We see it as the natural successor to Top Line. Late 1990s series, still D-shaped. The raised rear rim and step are replaced aesthetically by a rounded upper overhang. Slightly larger overall, launched with a wrap-around lid toilet seat still available in the Sintesibagno store at this link [ Clik HERE ]
ONDA series Hidra’s large-dimension series, from the early 2000s when many brands extended sanitary ware lengths (and seats). Competitors mentioned in ”BIG sanitaryware, large WCs and bidets modern lines and their covers (part 1)”: Sanitaryware SCULTURE Hatria, Series AMICA Nero Ceramiche and Series DIAGONAL Ideal Standard. Onda is a true bestseller. Soft, curvy form that visually lightens its generous size. Requires a long (49 cm) yet narrow (35 cm) toilet seat—long and slim. Available in the Sintesibagno store at this link [ Clik HERE ]
MY series One of Hidra’s most recent offerings. Strictly wall-hung/back-to-wall, following current trends. Competitors from the post on hidden-trap floor models: Series Sfera (sistema C) Ceramica Catalano, Series Open Space Concept Ceramica Globo, Series Fast Pozzi Ginori (Geberit) and Series LFT Spazio (Acqua Space) Simas. Striking shape: instead of a straight diagonal drop toward the floor (common in rivals), it features a double curve resembling a suspended toilet effect. Original wrap-around lid seat available in the Sintesibagno store at this link [ Clik HERE ]. Note: floor-mounted and wall-hung versions have different seats.
ELLADE series A queen of retro/classic style. Competitors from the classic/retro toilet seat replacement post: ANTALIA by DOLOMITE, Series RETRO’ by KERASAN, Series ARCADE / OLD ENGLAND by SIMAS . In the post ”Iconic sanitary ware: shapes, styles and colours ‘copied’ by the competition. Looking for the toilet seat cover (part 2)” we saw the particularity of Ellade and talked about it like this: ‘Hidra ceramica with its superior shape characterised by a double curve of workmanship distinguishes itself from all other companies, it opens a path that will later be followed as a shape by the sanitary ware of other ceramic companies, see: Royal Althea, Windsor by Ceramica Cielo and Boheme by Eos Ceramica. The Ellade toilet seat cover, both in white and black, can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ Clik HERE ]”
