We began discussing this renowned ceramic district in the post: “The companies of the Civita Castellana district and their sanitaryware. Looking for toilet seats? The Sintesibagno catalog helps you (part 1)”, where we introduced manufacturers such as Ceramica Althea, Kerasan, Globo, and Azzurra. Today, as we explore more brands and their iconic collections, we are once again struck by the sheer variety of “Made in Italy” excellence.
Ceramica Flaminia – The “WORK IN PROGRESS” Project (Link – Spin – Terra)
According to their official site, ceramicaflaminia.it, the company was founded in 1955 by 23 young workers who decided to start their own business following the strikes of 1954. With over half a century of history, Flaminia underwent a “design revolution” in 1996 under the artistic direction of Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini.
Collaborations with designers like Giulio Cappellini led to icons such as the Acquagrande washbasin. The Work in Progress line redefined bathroom aesthetics with products like LINK, (wall-hung WC and bidet with visible drains and no fixing holes), SPIN and TERRA . These series moved beyond simple fixtures to become true design statements.
Ceramica Simas – The Frozen Series
Since 1955, Simas has been crafting trends that last. Born as a workers’ cooperative, the company evolved through decades of technological investment—from the first tunnel kilns in the ’60s to robotic spraying in the ’80s.
A turning point came in the early 2000s with the FROZEN series. This collection remains an icon of rectangular design, a feat of ceramic mastery that few have been able to replicate with such geometric precision. Ceramica Catalano – The Zero System
The Zero System is a collection that left an indelible mark on the bathroom furniture world. Although these models all share the “Zero” prefix, they feature vastly different shapes and sizes: ZERO 45, ZERO 50/55, ZERO 54, ZERO+ and ZERO LIGHT. From wall-hung to floor-mounted versions, this system offers everything from modern D-shapes to compact solutions (Zero Light) designed for smaller spaces.
