Simas is one of the historic companies in the ceramic district of Civita Castellana, Italy. Since 1955, the company has been dedicated to creativity in ceramic sanitaryware, strictly Made in Italy, to create enduring, contemporary trends.
Company History Highlights
1955 (July 12): Simas is founded in Civita Castellana by 44 workers, leveraging the area’s tradition of manual craftsmanship passed down from father to son.
1961: The original company, Società Italiana Manufatti Articoli Sanitari, purchases its first 50-meter-long, oil-fired tunnel kiln.
1972–1978: Significant structural expansion, including the installation of the current 110-meter oil-fired tunnel kiln and 7 km of overhead transport and drying chains.
Early 1980s: Mechanization of casting (low-pressure machines) and glazing (spray robots) departments.
2004: The company status changes from a limited liability company (s.r.l.) to a joint-stock company (S.p.A.) with 70 shareholders, 125 employees, and a production of 250,000 pieces annually.
2005 (July 12): Simas celebrates 50 years, restyles its Civita Castellana headquarters using blue and transparency (reflecting the “Simas Acqua Space” payoff), and opens the Spazio Simas in Milan for architects and designers.
Simas has consistently focused on design since the 1970s, establishing long-term collaborations with designers like Californian Terri Pecora and, more recently, architect Simone Micheli. Today, Simas is a reality driven by people dedicated to turning projects into tangible results, collaboratively setting trends, all strictly Made in Italy.
Iconic Collections
Simas boasts over half a century of history and successful ceramic series. Since the early 2000s, it has affirmed itself alongside other Made in Italy by Civita Castellana companies (FLAMINIA, GLOBO, GSI, GALASSIA, CATALANO, ALTHEA) as an interpreter of modern bathroom furniture style.
Classic Retro Collections (Old England Line)
Simas established an international reputation with its classic, retro-style sanitaryware.

ARCADE Old England: A highly successful antique-style project, part of the broader Old England line, showcasing the company’s ceramic craftsmanship. It is described as a “collection that resists time,” featuring absolute elegance, robustness, and distinctive steps and embroidery on the ceramic body. It competes directly with retro lines like Antalia by Dolomite, Retrò by Kerasan and Magica Faleri. The toilet seat cover for this vintage-style sanitary fitting can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ]

LONDRA Old England: Also part of the Old England line, this series features simpler ceramic designs but a markedly classic and English style. Its minimal footprint makes it a unique piece. The toilet seat cover is available in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ]
Modern Design Collections (Acqua Space Line)
Simas groups its modern lines under the Acqua Space category, driven by key design collaborations.

FLOW (Terri Pecora, 2003): A major success blending minimal yet dynamic square, oval, rectangular, and round shapes. It was presented in both round and square versions (Flow Round and Flow Quadro), available in floor-standing and wall-hung models. All toilet seat models like the original can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ]

BOHEMIEN (Terri Pecora, 2006, Acqua Space): Designed for the luxury market, this collection emphasizes sculptural ceramic shapes and architectural furnishings. It draws inspiration from early 20th-century artistic movements and Brancusi’s asymmetrical sculptures, resulting in dimensionally significant and innovative forms. The Bohemien toilet seat cover is available in the original version at the following Sintesibagno link [ clik HERE ]

LFT Spazio (Terri Pecora, Acqua Space): Defined by an essential, clean form that pushes the concept of geometry into a “super-oval” that tends towards a triangle when viewed from above. It is described as a young, versatile, and accessible design adaptable to modern and intimate spaces. All toilet seats, even the old and first version in white polyester-coated wood, are available in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ]

SYNTESIS / SINTHESIS (1980s): An ’80s utility basin that found success in public and hotel bathrooms. It pioneered the concept of a toilet with a built-in bidet function (a pull-out hand shower), achieved by elongating the toilet body. This design requires a perfectly shaped and cut toilet seat.
