We began discussing these sanitary fixtures in the post: ”Legendary sanitaryware. They create shapes, styles and colours then sought after by all. We find the right toilet seat in these iconic toilets.(part 1)” where we started by looking at: Ideal Standard ALA Series (the wall-hung model), Pozzi Ginori SQUARE Series (the champagne color), Ideal Standard LINDA Series (the elongated oval shape), Cesame DECO’ Series (the hexagonal shape), Simas FROZEN Series (the rectangular shape), and Ideal Standard and sanitaryware colours: the whispered pastels (pink, light blue, green, gray), cranberry, and fern.
As in the previous post, “We will focus on sanitary ware that paved a new way, a new conceptual architectural thinking. Perhaps over time, competitors have even improved and made the initial idea more attractive, but today we want to reward the pioneers!”
Dolomite CLODIA Series – The Upper Step/Ledge
We were undecided whether to name this Dolomite sanitary fixture or the Cesame SINTESI series as the pioneer of this characteristic on the upper surface of the WC. Ultimately, we chose Clodia only because it remained in the company’s catalog for longer (it was produced until 2015). We closely examined this type of sanitary ware and their toilet seats in the post: ”Toilet seat with moulded bumper for toilet bowls with inclined plane” where we emphasized: never more than in this situation must the toilet seat be precise to the shape.
The inclined bumpers of these toilet seats must be positioned with the utmost precision so that the ‘step’ sits exactly where needed, providing stability and durability to the toilet seat. Customers who have experienced this know well that if the toilet seat is not precise, it will remain unstable and break quickly. In our store, we have selected toilet seats for these fixtures, primarily original products, or if no longer available, we have created the as-original version, and as a last resort, the dedicated version.

Pozzi Ginori ITALICA Series – The Great Dimension
If you’re wondering why the standard toilet seats found in shopping centers and DIY stores are so small, perhaps this sanitary fixture, Italica, was installed in your bathroom. While the normal length for a toilet seat is considered to be 45/46 cm, here we find sizes of 50 cm and beyond. After Italica, many other extra-large sanitary fixtures arrived; we highlighted some of them in the post: “Replacing a large-sized toilet seat“: GRAN SASSO by Hatria (49/50 cm), NORDICA by Vavid (49/50cm), LAGO Dolomite (49/50 cm), SYNUA Axa (48 cm), ROMANTICA Catalano (51 cm), QT 70 Dolomite (52 cm) and AMICA Globo (49,5 cm).

Hatria YOU&ME Series – The Perfect Circle (Round)
Perhaps the round shape for sanitary fixtures was not first proposed by Hatria, but the contrast of a square base with a spherical upper part certainly was. You&Me perfectly represents the category of sanitary ware that requires a truly round toilet seat. In the post: “Sanitary ware Round like a circle. Here you need customised toilet seats!” we saw many other sanitary series with this shape and various circle diameters: ARKE’ by Galassia (40 cm), EL1 by Galassia (39 cm), WIND by Vitruvit (36 cm), STARCK 1 Duravit (42 cm), FLOW TONDA Simas (40,5 cm), ZELIG Dolomite (35 cm) and BOWL 50 Ceramica Globo (38 cm).

Hidra ELLADE Series – The Retro Double Curve
All ceramic companies have produced a line of retro classic style sanitary ware. Each interpreted this category in its own way, as we have seen in several posts: “Retro Classical English Style Sanitaryware and their covers (part 1)” where we saw ANTALIA by Dolomite, RETRO’ by Kerasan, ARCADE/OLD ENGLAND by Simas and MAGICA Faleri. “And then comes ‘Montebianco’ Classic/antique sanitary ware and their toilet seats (part 2)” where we saw MONTEBIANCO by Pozzi Ginori, ALBANO by Vitruvit, LUTEZIA Ceramiche Senesi, PALLADIO Sbordoni and LONDRA Simas.
Hidra ceramica, with its distinctive upper shape characterized by a double curve, set itself apart from all the others, pioneering a design that would later be followed by sanitary ware from other ceramic houses, such as: ROYAL Althea, WINDSOR Ceramica Cielo and BOHEME by Eos Ceramica. Cesame and the Colors of its Sanitaryware: Visone Cesame and Daino
We have seen that every ceramic house has popularized certain colors. Pozzi launched the champagne color; Ideal Standard made the whispered pastel colors famous: light blue, pink, green, and gray. Cesame created and launched two colors that became iconic. Two very refined shades of brown: the DAINO color and the VISONE CESAME color (not to be confused with the ‘visone’ produced by all other ceramic houses, which is a shade very similar to hazelnut). The Sicilian ceramic house offered these colors across all its successful series: SINTESI, ARETUSA, ERICE, SYMBOL.
