What is meant by “old model toilet seat”?
This term naturally refers to very dated sanitary ware series, dating back to the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, meaning bathrooms made up to 50 years ago! In these cases – having taken the series out of production – companies often no longer manufacture the replacement toilet seat either. In some rare cases, the problem arises even for items from the ’60s! To be completely honest, even toilet seats from the early 2000s can fall into the “old models” category, especially if the original items are already out of production!
Why is it difficult to replace an old model seat?
If we were the ones who oversaw the creation of the bathroom and, over the years, haven’t had to replace the toilet seat, we might not remember the brand and the series/model of the sanitary ware! Maybe we had saved the catalogs and documents with the technical specifications, but now we look for them, and they are nowhere to be found! We are certain, however, that some inscriptions were printed somewhere on the toilet bowl, but when we look for them, they are gone or illegible, worn away by time!
We don’t know which model to look for to replace the toilet seat!
If we moved into an already furnished house, unless we are bathroom furniture experts, it is quite difficult to figure out the brand and model of the toilet when it comes to changing the lid of the sanitary ware. Also because most people – in such cases – prefer, for hygiene reasons and more, to change the pre-existing toilet seat used by the previous tenants!
