Small Toilets with Small Toilet Seats: A Selection of the Best Compact Models
We have already featured some of these small sanitary fixtures and their “small” toilet seats in previous Sintesibagno.shop blog posts, but today we look at them all together. These are all toilets that fit toilet seats with a maximum length of 40/41 cm, mostly with round and D-shapes (we discussed toilet seat shapes in the posts: ”The shapes of toilet seats. You thought a toilet seat was only oval? Have a look at the Sintesibagno catalogue (part 1)” and “Toilet seat shapes (part 2): elongated oval, figure-of-eight(8), D-shape, curved, teardrop, violin, triangular… ”. As usual, this will not be a ranking, but a selection of the best ceramic designs from bathroom furniture companies. Great! Let’s get started:
ZERO 45 Series by Catalano

We start with the smallest of the small. The ZERO 45 toilet by Catalano is, in our opinion, the dimensional limit beyond which neither the user can sit comfortably, nor the internal siphon can function; we believe it is impossible to go smaller. Forty-five centimeters is truly little! Initially produced as a floor-standing toilet, it is now also available as a wall-hung version. We covered the entire range of Catalano’s ZERO sanitary fixtures in the post: ”The Catalano Zero toilet seat cover. How many models are there in this series? Zero 45,50,54,55,62, Light, +” where you can also see the “normal” toilets of this ceramic series so loved by architects. Only the original Catalano toilet seat with soft-close hinges is available for this fixture. You can find it in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].
SPACE STONE 45 Series by Ceramica Globo

While Catalano focuses on the D-shape, Globo opts for the rectangular form to present its small 45-centimeter fixture. We’ve seen that the Space Stone series is part of the larger project called OPEN SPACE. We point out that the series was produced in both floor-standing and wall-hung versions, but above all, as we mention in the cited post, in two different depths: 54.36 cm and 45.36 cm. Pay close attention when choosing the toilet seat, and we advise you to check the measurements carefully before purchasing. At this Sintesibagno link, you can find both and verify before buying [ clik HERE ].
SMALL Series by Ideal Standard

Where it all began! This is what’s said when a product is introduced to the market that will mark the history of the sector (in this case, bathroom furnishings) and be taken as a reference by competing companies. Ideal Standard launched this ceramic series called SMALL in the late ’90s, and we can consider it the first series (perhaps better, project) of compact and small design sanitary fixtures. Yes, small toilets already existed, but the shape was the classic oval, and often they didn’t have a matching bidet, let alone a selection of washbasins. Here we find the entire series, and crucially, it was born with a design spirit. The intention was to create modern, designer bathrooms even in just a few square meters. It was a success! That project led to the more recent SMALL+, also available with wall-hung fixtures. 500 (Cinquecento) Series by Pozzi Ginori

A small series of sanitary fixtures where the designer’s touch is evident. Designed by ANTONIO CITTERIO, it conquered the market starting in the early 2000s. Five hundred (500) millimeters is the length of these brilliant sanitary fixtures. We, and the market, which rewarded it with extraordinary sales, consider it the perfect shape. It was presented in both wall-hung and floor-standing versions and paired with a very wide range of washbasins. Even today, since Pozzi Ginori joined the Geberit group (it is still in the catalog), it is highly appreciated by architects and interior designers who use it in small bathrooms where they want to give a refined touch. A leading series! You can find its toilet seats in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].
YOU&ME Sanitary Fixtures by Hatria

We know well that HATRIA rarely presents a series of sanitary fixtures with an anonymous shape. But with You&Me, we believe it achieves a formal purity that is hard to find in other small sanitary fixtures. We like them so much that we talk about them in a post whenever we can. We have discussed these fantastic small You&Me sanitary fixtures in several posts, such as “Which small WC (toilet seat) has been sold the most?”, where we emphasized the fact that it is one of the best-selling series among small/compact sanitary fixtures. In the post ”What is the wheelbase in toilet seats? (part 1)”, we saw its particular centre distance of 4.5/5 cm. In the post ”Round sanitary fixtures like a circle. Here you need customised toilet seats!”, we studied its superior circular shape combined with a square lower base. It is certainly one of the series that allowed Hatria to become known as the queen of design. And here is the Sintesibagno link to find its two toilet seats [ clik HERE ].
COMPACT Series by Eos Ceramiche

Thanks to the Compact series, a small company like Eos ceramiche competed for market share with industry giants (see Ideal Standard, Pozzi Ginori, Ceramiche Globo,…) in this category of small sanitary fixtures. It was one of the first series to propose the circle as the sanitary shape and the close-coupled (flush-to-wall) positioning. Many subsequent toilet series were surely inspired by this fixture. You can find its toilet seat in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].
F-CONCEPT Series by Faleri

Very soft and rounded shapes for these small sanitary fixtures by Faleri. We have not yet dedicated a post to this company (we have only seen a couple of series so far: MAGICA in this post and FISH in this one), so we refer you to their domusfalerii website from which we take this excerpt: “Domus Falerii was founded in Italy in 1970, along with numerous cooperatives for the production of sanitary fixtures that developed in the Civita Castellana area in those years and which, over time, created the most important production hub in Europe today. Since 2014, we have been the first in our district to envision a new company vision, with a dynamic industrial formula that allows us to carry out capillary quality and technical control on every single piece produced.” Returning to the F-concept sanitary fixtures, you can find its small toilet seat (less than 40 cm) called F-CONCEPT in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].
BONSAI Series by Ceramica Globo

Another small sanitary fixture from Ceramica Globo. The name Bonsai already suggests something very small. It was the company’s response to the launch of Small by Ideal Standard and Zerolight by Catalano (which we will see shortly). It was among the first in the category to offer a wall-hung version of the toilet. Pay close attention when purchasing the toilet seat for the two versions—floor-standing and wall-hung. In fact, in this case, even while maintaining the same formal DNA, they are not even dimensionally related. The toilet seat for the wall-hung model, which you can find in the Sintesibagno store at this link [ clik HERE ], is a generous 39 cm wide, while the toilet seat for the floor-standing toilet is only 36.2 cm and can be found at the following link [ clik HERE ].
ZERO LIGHT Series by Ceramica Catalano

Recently discontinued and replaced by the new NEWLIGHT series, it was a benchmark in the small sanitary fixtures category for quite some time. Measuring only 48 cm, it allowed for the close-coupled (flush-to-wall) positioning that began to establish itself in designer bathrooms in the early 2000s. A peculiarity of its toilet seat is that it falls into the category of “strange centre distances” because the fixing holes on the toilet are positioned at 19 cm. You can find the ZERO LIGHT toilet seats for this toilet in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].
NOVELLA MINI Series by Ceramica Dolomite

A company like DOLOMITE, a champion in all categories of sanitary shapes, could not fail to present a small and compact sanitary fixture. It introduced it in the late ’80s, and it was quite popular. It developed from the larger variant (NOVELLA), of which it maintained the formal purity and lightness typical of this ceramic house, but dimensionally it was truly MINI. Incredibly, the toilet seat is the same for both versions, and you can find it in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].
