Narrow Toilets and Bidets: Toilet Seats Are Scarcely Wide and Hard to Find. Let’s Discover the Oldest/Strangest Series (Part 2)

Narrow Toilets: A Deep Dive into Compact Designs and Compatible Toilet Seats

We’ve previously explored the world of narrow sanitary ware. In our post, “Narrow WC and bidets. Measures less then 35 cm in width. What are the toilet seats for these sanitaryware?” we started with the narrowest WC ever produced: the XL by Ideal Standard. We also looked at the ELLISSE and ONDINE series, also from Ideal Standard, and PERLA and SWEET LIFE by Dolomite. Our post, “Catalano and the old discontinued series. Where can I find the toilet seats?” featured the JUNIOR series by Ceramica Catalano.

Kerasan RITMO Series

Produced in the 1980s and 1990s, the Kerasan RITMO is a toilet with a distinct C-shape. We can also categorize it among the “small toilets” we discussed in “WC seats sizes | small size for small sanitary ware” where we primarily focused on toilet seat lengths, examining 40, 39, and 38 cm. Today, we’re highlighting its surprising width: just 32 cm! While not as narrow as the legendary XL’s 27 cm, it still earns a spot on the podium for the narrowest sanitary fixtures. Naturally, a toilet seat for such unique dimensions is available in the Sintesibagno store. Find it here [ clik HERE ].

Sbordoni DORA Series

The Dora series by Sbordoni stands out as one of the most distinctive toilets from various ceramic manufacturers. Due to its raised back, it’s often mistaken for the Ideal Standard Conca toilet. In fact, we could have included it in our post, “Sanitary ware with a raised surface. WC seats with 45°fixing hinges. (part 1)” However, upon closer inspection of its top, it’s clear the front shape is perfectly circular, not rectangular. Its significantly different width also necessitates a narrow toilet seat. The Dora toilet seat is only 33.4 cm wide! You can find these Dora toilet seats in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].

Pozzi Ginori SELNOVA Series

The Selnova series by Pozzi Ginori has always been a direct competitor to Ideal Standard’s bestseller, ELLISSE, in this category. The original Selnova (recently re-introduced in the Pozzi catalog as SELNOVA 3 with slight dimensional modifications) requires a toilet seat that’s only 34.5 cm wide. All available toilet seat variants for this toilet can be found in the Sintesibagno store at this link [ clik HERE ].

Ceramiche Senesi DONATELLO Series

During the 1970s and 1980s, when Ideal Standard’s Ellisse and Pozzi Ginori’s Selnova dominated the market, Ceramiche Senesi introduced the Donatello toilet. For a long time, it was a worthy competitor. Besides being very narrow, it featured a slight upward incline towards the top of the bowl, which reduced the toilet seat’s resting surface. This is why for the TOP version of the toilet seat available in stores, we opted for fixed hinges. You can find it in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ].

In this post, we’ve explored other very narrow ceramic sanitary fixtures.
