The Function of Angled Bumpers on Toilet Seats
In a previous post, “Sanitary wares with a sloping step top and their toilet seats with shaped bumpers (part 1) ,” we explored how some toilets feature a stepped or sloped rim, requiring toilet seats with specially shaped bumpers to ensure a stable and perfect fit. Examples include the Sintesi by Cesame, Clodia by Dolomite, Astro by Eos ceramiche and Selecta by Hatria.
However, not all toilets with stability issues have a stepped rim. Some have a smooth but slightly inclined surface, causing standard bumpers to slide left or right. In such cases, angled bumpers are essential. These bumpers aren’t shaped to fit into a step, but rather angled to provide superior stability and robustness to the toilet seat.
Ideal Standard’s CONCA Series

The Ideal Standard CONCA toilet is a prime example. As we’ve discussed, this model has a characteristic sloped rear rim, necessitating toilet seat hinges angled at 45 degrees [ clik HERE ]. But that’s not all; its original toilet seats were equipped with angled bumpers as standard to ensure maximum adherence and durability over time. You can find these “Top Quality” products in the Sintesibagno store [ clik HERE ].
Ceramica Flaminia’s RELAX Series

Another typical instance where angled bumpers are crucial is with the Ceramica Flaminia RELAX series. As you can see from the image, the top surface of this toilet is completely round, providing minimal contact points. To prevent lateral sliding, the original RELAX toilet seats are fitted with shaped bumpers and, importantly, fixed hinges. You can find this specific toilet seat in Sintesibagno store [ clik HERE ].
Hatria’s MARYLIN Series

The Hatria MARYLIN series has been quite successful in the market. Similar to the other examples, the top edge of this toilet is not flat but inclined. For our thermo-setting “PLUS” version toilet seats designed for the MARYLIN, we’ve opted to install angled bumpers to ensure maximum stability. You can find in the Sintesibagno store as the version with standard stainless steel hinges [ clik HERE ] and the soft-close hinges version [ clik HERE ].
