Unveiling the Secrets of the Ideal Standard Conca Toilet Seat
The Ideal Standard Conca toilet and its matching toilet seat are iconic in bathroom design, each possessing unique characteristics that set them apart. This article delves into the specific features that make the Conca series so distinctive.
Conca: A Symbol of Ideal Standard’s Legacy
The Conca series stands as a testament to Ideal Standard‘s dominance in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. Its revolutionary rectangular forms profoundly influenced bathroom design, often serving as a model for other manufacturers. Despite being an older design, the Conca’s lines remain strikingly contemporary, proving its timeless appeal. While the original toilet seat has evolved into a modern thermosetting wrap-around plastic version, the Conca’s design essence persists. The series reached its sales peak in the 80s and 90s, offering a vibrant palette of colors that are still found in homes today. Conca it has come down to the present day! (nowadays the only thing that has changed compared to the first productions is the toilet seat that has been introduced in wrapping thermosetting plastic material, with the intention of modernising the profile of the toilet bowl which you can find at the Sintesibagno store in all the [ clik HERE ]
The Conca’s Distinctive Rectangular Shape
While rectangular and square sanitary ware are relatively recent additions to bathroom aesthetics, the Conca pioneered this trend. Its immense popularity often leads to confusion, with customers mistakenly purchasing incompatible toilet seats due to similar shapes. The Conca’s unique rectangular form is a defining characteristic, and understanding its precise dimensions and official colors. The Recognition Factor: Conca’s Inclined Rear Surface and 45° Hinges
The inclined rear surface of the Conca toilet is a key innovation. Although not the very first (Dolomite’s Epoca series predates it), Conca popularized this stylistic feature. The mounting holes for the toilet seat are strategically placed on this curved incline, necessitating 45-degree angled hinges. These specialized hinges ensure the toilet seat sits correctly and securely. All Conca toilet seats, regardless of material or color, feature these essential angled hinges.
Of course, all Conca toilet seats are available in all materials and colours: EU white, Ideal Standard white, champagne, vison, kashmir, beaver, walnut, whisper blue, backdrop blue, blueberry, whisper green, fern green, whisper grey, pomegranate, cactus, black, manchurian yellow, dune yellow, you can find them in the store at the following link [ clik HERE ]
Angled Bumpers: Stability and Durability for the Conca Toilet Seat
The Conca toilet’s slightly inclined top surface, unlike those with steps, requires angled bumpers on the toilet seat. Unlike shaped bumpers that fit into a step, these angled rubber pieces prevent sliding and enhance stability and durability. The original Conca toilet seats were equipped with these angled bumpers as standard to maximize grip and longevity. The Enigmatic “Ideal Standard White”
One of the most surprising aspects of the Conca is its unique “Ideal Standard White” color. Unlike a pure “European White,” this shade has a subtle grayish tint that becomes apparent when contrasted with a standard white object (like a printer sheet). Many customers initially perceive their Conca toilet as simply “white” until they attempt to replace the seat with a different white, revealing the distinct “Ideal Standard White.” Until the early 2000s, Ideal Standard offered both its unique white and the more common “EU White.” Conca toilet seats in “Ideal Standard White” are still available, ensuring a perfect match.
A Kaleidoscope of Colors: The Official Conca Palette
The Conca series is one of the few Ideal Standard ranges to have been produced in almost every color from the company’s palette, including various shades of white, gray, blue, green, beige, brown, and even red and pink. These vibrant options allow for highly personalized bathroom designs.
