Flaminia: A Design Revolution in Bathroom Furnishings
Let’s start with a passage from the official Flaminia catalog:
“In 1996, the company transformed into a SpA (joint-stock company), and a few months later, the ‘revolution’ began with Roberto Palomba taking over as art director. He started designing new products with Ludovica Serafini. The decision was made to focus on design, also leveraging external collaborations, such as the one in ’97 that led Giulio Cappellini to create the product that became the icon of change: the Acquagrande washbasin. The ‘Work in progress’ expression identified the new ‘design line,’ which quickly expanded with new items.” (Source: Catalogue Flaminia).
From that date, which we consider the “Year 2.0” for the Civita Castellana-based company, Flaminia has consistently launched incredibly beautiful and hugely successful projects. It began with the Link sanitaryware, followed by Spin, and then Terra…
Flaminia Link Ceramic Series

The Link series of sanitaryware propelled Flaminia and the bathroom furnishing world into modern design and style. We also discussed it in our post on wall-hung toilets, ” “Whall-hang sanitary wares and their WC saets (part 1)” where we included the following:
“In the late 1990s and early 2000s, wall-hung toilets began to be considered a ‘normal’ choice. It was the right time for a formal acceleration. The market was accustomed to identical and rather crude shapes. Until then, the mere fact that a toilet was wall-hung was enough to qualify it as modern. Flaminia understood the need for new shapes and styles and introduced Link. And they created a masterpiece! They are still among the most beautiful wall-hung toilets in the entire bathroom furniture world. Their incredibly reduced body height of only 20 cm (excluding the siphon) truly gives the impression of a body suspended in the void. Minimal, chic, and still ultra-modern, over twenty years after their introduction. Toilet seats for these sanitary wares are available in all their variants (original wrap-around, original soft-close wrap-around, polyester-coated wood, and various dedicated versions) at the Sintesibagno following link [ clik HERE ].” We have also created a video about this series and its toilet seat.
Flaminia Spin Ceramic Series

While Link drew its forms directly from geometry, with Spin, the designers were inspired by the natural and enveloping shapes found in nature. The slight inclination of the base further enhances the suspended effect. To maintain the practically perfect lines of these sanitary wares, we recommend the original toilet seat, which you can find at the following Sintesibagno link [ clik HERE ].
Flaminia Terra Ceramic Sanitaryware
Flaminia also asserts its design prowess in rectangular sanitaryware. In our post, “Sanitary wares rectangular shapes. Why do all toilet seats for this WC look the same?“, we explored the evolution of rectangular and squared sanitaryware. We quote a passage:

“It was the early 2000s, a time of great ferment in the bathroom furnishing sector. Many companies in the industry wanted to unseat Ideal Standard and Dolomite from their market supremacy. Ceramic manufacturers in the Civita Castellana district understood that the public was looking for new forms, and design, along with great designers, entered the bathroom. One of the companies that best interpreted the trend of the moment was undoubtedly Ceramica Flaminia, which presented one ceramic series after another, all becoming best-sellers (see Link and Spin), and among them, we find Terra. With this series, the company struck again, achieving another sales success and opening a new path for ceramic shapes. The top shape of the toilet, rectangular with slightly rounded corners, and its change in depth towards the floor made it unique at the time. It is still beautiful today, almost twenty years after its presentation. Here are the Sintesibagno links to the Flaminia section in our shop, where you will easily find spare parts for the Terra model! [ clik HERE ]”
