The last few years have seen a decreasing trend in sanitary ware sizes within the bathroom industry. We’ve previously highlighted this in our post, “Small size 🚽 toilet seat cover for ‘small’ sanitary ware,” where dimensions have shrunk to 50 cm, and in some cases, even 45 cm. Despite this, the standard size for sanitary ware remains 55 cm.
However, some ceramic manufacturers recognized a market demand for larger, more “important” sanitary ware (ranging from 56 to 60 cm). This is particularly relevant for spacious bathrooms where standard-sized WCs and bidets can appear disproportionately small. To fill these larger spaces and enhance the overall aesthetic, designers have created truly avant-garde ceramic series that offer a more substantial presence.
Featured Large Sanitary Ware Series
As always, we like to showcase series that best exemplify the category we’re discussing.
SCULTURE Series by Hatria
In our opinion, Hatria’s Sculture series is the perfect embodiment of this trend. It’s an innovatively styled, truly designer sanitary ware series that is formally very large, measuring 60 cm. You can find both versions of the Sculture toilet seat (50/51 cm long)—the white coated wood and the thermosetting with soft-close hinges—in Sintesibagno store [ open LINK ] .
AMICA Series by Nero Ceramiche
While the Sculture basin represents the perfect oval, Nero Ceramiche’s Amica series can be considered the ideal modern rectangular shape. (We’ve previously discussed rectangular shapes in this post [ open LINK ]). Its slightly rounded corners give it a soft, enveloping form. The original thermosetting toilet seat cover, measuring 49.5/50 cm long, is available in Sintesibagno store [ open LINK ] .
DIAGONAL Series by Ideal Standard
We could have included this series in our article dedicated to unusually shaped and sized sanitary fixtures [ open LINK ] , as both the fixture and its toilet seat cover are truly unique. They stand out for their distinctive shape and the characteristic single hinge designed specifically for this model. If you’re looking for this replacement, simply search for “diagonal hinge,” and you’ll find it immediately. We’ve included it here because it’s a remarkably large toilet seat, with its cover measuring a total of 50 cm long. The toilet seat, hinge, and original Diagonal bumper kit are all available in the Sintesibagno store [ open LINK ].
